Flexible 87-year-old

This is Tao Ouyun, from Yuyao in eastern China’s Zhejiang Province. She doesn’t let age prevent her from doing what she loves most, Taijiquan. She explained she has performed Tai Chi routines on the mountain, located nearly two kilometers from her home, every morning since she retired from a weaving factory, 37 years ago.

“Taijiquan is an internal Chinese martial art practised for both its defense training and its health benefits. It is also typically practised for a variety of other personal reasons: its hard and soft martial art technique, demonstration competitions, and longevity.”

When combined with standard treatment, Taijiquan appears to be helpful for several medical conditions. For example: Arthritis, Heart disease, Parkinson’s disease, Hypertension and sleep problems.
